Here’s my poem. I’ll turn it into a song one day. I’ve written it because this week it was World Alzheimer’s Day.
I’ve forgotten which day of the week it was (normal memory loss).
Moments of Grace
He’s not like the man you married
Slowly pieces of him fading away
into memories
I sigh and my heart is heavy tonight
make it light, Yah
I need a Moment of Grace
We’re losing him, too, Mum
A Grandad we love
He’s slowly going back where we can’t go
back to the early days, to the farm, to the family we don’t know
So we cry sometimes
We need Moments of Grace
But then a piece of blue sky
appears in the cloud
We see a bud, new life
A bird sings and builds a nest
We are here today now
the past is gone,
He’s going back there, not alone
but we need Moments of Grace
For today its enough to say
we’re here with you
Lets create a happy memory now
Look at our blessings and count them
Hang on, the storm is blowing over
And the sunshine of Glory is coming.
We have Moments of Hope
Together we’ll be strong
The Grace and Love of Yah will
Carry us along
together
We have Moments of Grace
Mum
